AICon 2013 Summary

mim

Whew!  What a ride!  AICon 2013 was a huge success. Although we were really busy we got to chat with so many people and oggle so many wonderful cosplays - it was fantastic! Tremendous thanks to everyone who stopped by for a look at our stall and a chat. The volunteers we encountered were also wonderfully helpful and kept us genki (energetic) and well hydrated.

We received a lot of great feedback about our new handmade cushions, and had sold out of them by the end of the convention. The 'Vintage Cat' design was especially popular and disappeared within the first few hours. I was so glad that after a week of working on them they all managed to find new homes. Thanks to everyone who adoped one, we hope you enjoy them! If you wanted one but missed out we're going to do another fabric order very soon, so get in touch (contact@twolofbees.com).

Cheese volunteered some time to help judge the art competition again this year. He reports that it was very hard to have to choose between all the fantastic entries. I managed to sneak away from the stall for a little while earlier in the day too and I was very impressed with the entries I managed to catch a glimpse of. I have to admit I'm a little jealous of the people that get to hang out in the art corner making fantastic scribbles and chatting with other artists.

We tried to make a point of getting around to all the other stalls so we could meet the vendors and grab a picture for facebook. I really love the friendly atmosphere between all the vendors at AICon. All the stalls are so interesting. It's such a pleasure to be able to see what everyone else is working on.  I must confess that my favourite stalls are the ones that feature original or handmade items. It's great to see how everyone's unique style comes through in the various products they produce - from clothing and jewelry to sketches and plushies.

This was our second year at AICon as traders and although having a stall means we unfortunately miss out on being able to participate in or view events and activities (T_T), it has been a wonderful experience so far and we look forward to being a part of AICon in the years to come.

(By the way, I understand that next year's theme is 'Secret Agent' so if anyone has any ideas about cool stuff we could do for that, leave a comment! Secret-agenty-spy-stuff isn't exactly my forte, but I guess I've got a whole year to immerse myself in all the spy culture I can get my hands on, ha ha!)
